What to Expect During a Skin Cancer Check

  1. Medical History Review: Discuss any concerns, family history of skin cancer, or noticeable changes in your skin.

  2. Full Skin Examination: A detailed assessment of your skin from head to toe using advanced dermatoscopy technology for accurate detection of abnormalities.

  3. Spot or Mole Monitoring: Suspicious spots or moles are monitored or biopsied if needed for further analysis.

  4. Action Plan: If required, we guide you through the next steps, such as removal or referral for additional treatment.

When Should You Book a Skin Cancer Check?

It’s important to schedule a skin cancer check or spot check if you notice any of the following:

  • Unusual growths or spots that appear suddenly or look different from others on your skin.

  • Lesions that have changed in size, shape, or color, or cause persistent irritation and fail to heal.

  • Crusty or non-healing sores that linger for weeks without improvement.

  • Small lumps that are red, pale, or have a pearly appearance.

  • New spots, freckles, or moles that change in color, thickness, or shape over several weeks or months.

  • Regular checks can help catch these signs early, ensuring timely treatment and peace of mind.

We recommend scheduling a comprehensive skin check every 12 months to ensure early detection of any concerns. However, if you have a personal history of skin cancer, or if new or suspicious lesions appear, earlier or more frequent checks may be advised.

How to Protect Your Skin Between Checks

Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, even on cloudy days.

Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses when outdoors.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure, especially during peak UV hours.

Perform regular self-examinations of your skin to monitor changes.
